Overview:
A glass tubing manufacturer contracted with Byers to complete a multifaceted project in one of their glass manufacturing facilities. Byers met the customer’s deadline and completed the project over a seven month period in two phases.
Phase one consisted of the removal of Glass Furnace K; consisting of 300 tons of steel, 1100 tons of refractory block, saw cutting, removal of concrete floors as well as all other mechanical and electrical equipment associated with the operation of the furnace.
Phase two involved the fabrication and installation of 90 tons of support steel, 150 yards of pumped concrete and the erection of the furnace package; consisting of 70 tons of steel. Our team also fabricated and installed a complete electrical package to the furnace including high voltage switchgears, transformers, an electrode package and all other ancillary electrical and mechanical services to complete the new furnace. In addition, the project also included the assembly and installation of a complete dust collector system including concrete foundations, floors and steel building package.
