Glass Tubing Manufacturer, Millville NJ
In Millville, New Jersey, a glass tubing manufacturer engaged Byers to deliver a multifaceted capital project spanning electrical, mechanical, and structural disciplines. Executed in two phases over seven months, the team met the client’s deadline by tightly sequencing demolition and rebuild activities around plant operations to maintain schedule and safety.
Phase One focused on decommissioning and removal of Glass Furnace K, including 300 tons of steel and 1,100 tons of refractory block, extensive saw cutting, demolition of concrete floors, and removal of all associated mechanical and electrical systems tied to the furnace’s operation.
Phase Two delivered the rebuild: fabrication and installation of 90 tons of support steel; 150 yards of pumped concrete; and erection of the new furnace package comprising 70 tons of steel. Byers also furnished a complete electrical package—high-voltage switchgear, transformers, electrode package, and ancillary services—and assembled a full dust-collector system with concrete foundations, floors, and a steel building enclosure, positioning the facility for reliable, long-term performance.
