EV Charging Infrastructure – Irondale, AL
Byers delivered the electrical buildout for a large-scale EV charging installation, furnishing labor, materials, and equipment to implement the system per issued drawings. Work planning emphasized clean, code-compliant layouts; coordinated sequencing with parallel trades; and weekday/Saturday 10-hour shifts to maintain schedule and safety throughout installation.
Scope included receiving and installing medium-voltage main switchgear; two step-down transformers; multiple 480-V switchboards (including 1200-A, 2000-A, and 3000-A units); secondary transformers (eight 225-kVA and one 300-kVA); additional 800-A and 1200-A switchboards; and 160 EV chargers mounted on posts (two chargers per post), along with 53 junction boxes at charger locations
Execution incorporated trenching for new/extended underground conduits (Schedule 40 PVC), assumptions and allowances for clearing existing conduits, XHHW copper feeders and aluminum charger circuits, and a medium-voltage hi-pot test. Delineations clarified that equipment (panels/transformers/switchgear/chargers) was furnished by others; no concrete pads or bollards were included; and certain site items (permits, private locates, saw-cutting/asphalt/concrete) were by others—while Byers handled unloading/setting when installation was immediately feasible.
