Automated Conveyor & Layer Pick Installation – Bardstown, KY
Byers executed a fixed-rate mechanical program under weekday 10-hour shifts to install automated conveyance and safety systems at a distribution facility in Bardstown, Kentucky. Work began with receiving and offloading equipment, inspection for shipping damage, and field installation per the issued layout and specifications to maintain a clean, safe, and maintainable production environment.
Scope included installing 35 conveyors, a profile check stand, 2 light-curtain stands, an overhead monitor stand, 5 control enclosures (set and anchor), 8 conveyor walkovers, E-stop and pull-cord assemblies, and 650 linear feet of safety fencing. The team also installed a Layer Pick system—unloading 10 pieces from two trucks, rigging and setting legs/supports/gantry, anchoring in place, and adding 2 light curtains, 1 control enclosure, and perimeter fencing for safeguarded operation.
Final activities covered modifying two conveyors for tie-in (as a separate mobilization) with bolt-up connections only and no field welding, using a telescoping forklift to place components onto skates for interior rigging. Staffing averaged six craftworkers over 24 working days plus three tie-in days, with sequencing focused on precise alignment, anchorage, and coordinated access to streamline commissioning and long-term maintainability.
