Home Furnishings Manufacturer, Perryville MD

At a 1.8-million-square-foot home furnishings distribution center in Perryville, Maryland, Byers delivered a multi-phase rooftop solar modernization that ranks among the country’s largest arrays. Phase Two built upon Phase One (completed in 2013), with all work performed on a 42-foot-high roof using Byers lifting equipment and coordinated logistics to keep heavy inbound/outbound traffic uninterrupted. The result is a high-capacity PV system that advances the owner’s sustainability commitments while integrating seamlessly with ongoing operations

Across the two phases, scope included thousands of PV modules with extensive aluminum cable tray, home-run feeder and string wiring, roof-mounted combiner boxes, and dedicated inverters tied into 4,000-amp indoor switchgear. The team constructed reinforced equipment pads, installed monitoring/weather stations with fiber/data backhaul, and rerouted existing service through custom concrete vaults to integrate new solar gear. Phase One delivered ~2.7 MW and Phase Two ~2.2 MW of additional capacity, with systems producing at 480 V and designed for safe access, maintainability, and long-term performance.

Byers’ integrated electrical delivery ensured on-track, on-budget execution and utility-grade interconnection, with exported energy metered back to the grid. The expanded array reduces operating costs and carbon impact while providing resilient, monitorable generation for a high-throughput logistics environment. Meticulous planning, quality workmanship, and proactive coordination with stakeholders enabled a clean, durable installation that supports sustainable growth for years to come.
