Plant Cooling Tunnel, Swedesboro NJ

In Swedesboro, New Jersey, Byers partnered with a leading food processing customer to enhance the performance of their cooling tunnel system, a critical stage in their production line. The project was designed to increase processing speed and overall plant throughput. Leveraging mechanical expertise and precision installation, Byers executed a complete upgrade to key tunnel components to ensure efficiency gains without compromising product quality.

The scope of work included replacing the existing rooftop exhaust fan with a higher-capacity unit capable of delivering greater cubic feet per minute (CFM), installing larger stainless steel ductwork, and integrating a new water piping and spray nozzle configuration inside the tunnel. These upgrades were designed to optimize cooling efficiency, enabling faster belt speeds through the tunnel. As a direct result, the facility achieved a 17% increase in product throughput during an eight-hour shift.

This targeted system enhancement underscores Byers’ ability to deliver measurable operational improvements through tailored mechanical solutions. By increasing airflow, refining water distribution, and maximizing thermal exchange, the upgraded cooling tunnel positions the plant for greater productivity and sustained growth. The project not only improved immediate performance but also set the foundation for future scaling in response to market demands.
